The borough Police Department welcomed Patrolman David Cowdrick to its roster at Monday’s Mayor and Council meeting.

Cowdrick, a borough native, spent three and a half years with the U.S. Department of Defense at Fort Dix before completing the New Jersey Police Training Commission course at the Passaic County Police Academy on July 25.

The new addition will bring the six-man force to seven until Chief William Varcadipane’s retirement later this year.

“We’re glad to have you aboard and look forward to seeing you on the road,” Ogdensburg Mayor Steve Ciasullo said.

While Cowdrick is on the road already, he will be riding with a partner for about a month before being able to patrol on his own, Varcadipane said.

“It’s good to be back home,” Cowdrick said, with his family in attendance at the council meeting.
