Wallkill Valley football ends long losing streak

Wallkill Valley Regional High School defeated Parsippany High School in varsity football on Saturday, Sept. 12, 37-21, at Wallkill VAlley Regional High School. With the win, the Wallkill Valley Rangers were able to break a long losing streak dating back to October 2013.

Wallkill Valley quarterback Marko Bakovic completed 14 of 24 passes for 171 yards. Bakovic also ran for a score on a keeper. Teammates Rich Stecher and Alex Thompson took care of business on the ground, each scoring one rushing touchdown.

The Rangers' Dylan Harlos and Quadir Hanson returned kickoffs for touchdowns, and defensive back Peter Mastroianni forced and recovered a fumble. He also intercepted two passes. The Rangers led 25-0 at halftime.

The Red Hawks woke up in the third quarter. Running back Kwaku Agyemang scored one rushing touchdown in addition to two 40-yard touchdown receptions. Parsippany tightened the score, 25-14. But they were unable to score in the fourth quarter.
