Franklin introduces 2015 budget

The Franklin Borough Council introduced a 2015 budget caldling for a $52.14 tax increase on the average value home in the borough on Tuesday, March 24.

The average value of a home in Franklin is assessed at $174,400.

A public hearing and potential vote is scheduled for the April 28th meeting.

“The process is long and arduous and we are often faced with unexpected expenses during the course of any given year,” Mayor Paul Crowley said.

Crowley applauded the work of the employees and finance committee who were responsible for creating the budget.

The borough also will receive a grant of $330,000 from the New Jersey Department of Transportation as part of its Safe Routes to School program. The funds will be used to make necessary repairs and upgrades to sidewalks along County Route 631.
