Barbara Donatacci and Jeanine Erickson are featured at Gallery 23
BLAIRSTOWN — The windows of Gallery 23, in Blairstown, will feature potter Barbara Donatacci and glass artist Jeanine Erickson as Artists of the Month throughout November.
Barbara Donatacci has been a potter for over 15 years. She loves to work with her hands and has discovered that working with clay affords her “never ending knowledge and creativity.” Donatacci combines soft colors and flowing lines with the utilitarian forms of dinnerware and vases.
Donatacci has been creating a new Santa every year for the past 23 years. Santa 2012 will be shown in different outfits for different occasions. Each one dressed in vintage silk tie.
Jeanine Erickson’s work is essentially multimedia pieces that can include art glass, hammered copper sheet and wire, ceramics, agate slices, fossils, and fused glass pieces. Her organic lines, creative use of negative space, and decorative soldering serve to augment her designs. She makes boxes, kaleidoscopes, mirrors, and panels.
Erickson has been involved in glasswork for 18 years. She holds a BA in Music Education and an MA in Music Theory & Composition from Montclair University. Eriockson teaches instrumental music and stained glass at Morristown Beard School in Morristown.
Gallery 23, an artist co-op, is located at 23 Main Street, Blairstown. The hours are Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday noon to 4 p.m. For more information, call 908-362-6865 or visit gallery23.org.
