Hospital offers classes in May

NEWTON — Newton Memorial Hospital will offer the following classes at the hospital and/or at the Sparta Health and Wellness Center: Basic life support and first aid Heartsaver Adult and Pediatric CPR will be held from 7 to 10 p.m. on Monday, May 11 at Newton Memorial Hospital. The cost is $35. Heartsaver Adult and Child AED CPR will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 2 at Sparta Health and Wellness Center. The cost is $40. Healthcare Provider CPR for New Providers will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays, May 16 at the Sparta Health & Wellness Center and May 23 at Newton Memorial Hospital. The cost is $60. Healthcare Provider CPR Renewal will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 16 at Newton Memorial Hospital; and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 23 at Sparta Health & Wellness Center. The cost is $50. Family & Friends Adult & Pediatric CPR will be held from 7 to 10 p.m. on Monday, May 18 at Newton Memorial Hospital. The cost is $20. Heartsaver Adult First Aid with Adult, Child, Infant CPR will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 9 at Newton Memorial Hospital. The cost is $60. Childbirth Preparation for Childbirth classes will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays, May 2 and May 9, and from 7 to 9:30 p.m. on Mondays, May 4 to June 1 with the exception of May 25. All classes will be held at Newton Memorial Hospital. Newborn parenting classes A class to prepare expectant parents for the new addition to their family will be held from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 3 at Newton Memorial Hospital. Sibling preparation Newton Memorial Hospital will hold a Sibling Preparation Class from 3:30 to 5 p.m., on Sunday, May 3, at the hospital. The class which will teach big brothers and big sisters how to help care for a new baby. Designed for boys and girls ages 3 to 10 years, the class emphasize the important role they play in the new family setting. Diabetes The daytime support group meeting will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 6 at the hospital. Breast cancer Newton Memorial Hospital and the American Cancer Society will hold a Breast Cancer Support Group meeting at from 6:30 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, May 12 at the Sparta Health and Wellness Center.
