Jeff Twp. Day plans afoot

    JEFFERSON TOWNSHIP — The 23rd annual Jefferson Township Day will be held rain or shine on Saturday, July 11 at the Jefferson Township High School fields on Weldon Road. The day will start off with a hometown parade at 11 a.m. along Weldon Road led by the Jefferson Township High School’s Golden Falcons Marching Band. Anticipated new activities this year include new inflatable activities, a new specialty crafts area, and a new Chamber of Commerce area. The committee is bringing back the decorated bicycle parade and contest, the 50/50 raffle, the young rockers bands, and Irish road bowling while the Jefferson Township Recreation Department is bringing back the 25 foot rock wall. The Junior Woman’s Club will staff a dunk tank. There will be continuous live entertainment on the main stage and the Pride of Jefferson stage all day long with the Jefferson Township community chorus and community band performing in the evening. The children’s fishing contest, demonstrations, information booths, 12 specialty food vendors, and arts/crafts/merchandise vendors will be on hand. The evening will conclude with a fireworks display at 9:30 p.m. Admission is free until 5:30 p.m. when a $2 fee per adult and $1 per child will be charged to help defray expenses incurred during the event. Parking is free throughout the day and evening. No alcohol, no drugs, no fireworks, no bicycles, no pets, no large coolers, no smoking on or around school property is allowed.
