Come dressed like Abe or Mary Todd and it’s free BYRAM TOWNSHIP - President Lincoln’s 200th birthday was officially celebrated on Feb. 12 this year, but at Wild West City, the birthday party kicks into high gear on Sunday, July 12 when the Lenape Valley Kiwanis Club hosts “Abe Lincoln Day.” Children who dress-up like Abe or his wife Mary Todd will be admitted to the park for free. Activities include a reading of the Gettysburg Address, a fashion show, a pie eating contest, arts and crafts, and games that would have been popular in the 1860s. Many of the activities will take place by the authentic style one room schoolhouse at the park. All of the activities associated with Abe Lincoln Day are free. The Lenape Valley club will be assisted during the day by the Mount Olive Kiwanis Club and members of the Mount Olive High School Key Club. “This is our way of honoring our 16th president, clearly one of the greatest leaders ever,” said owner Mike Stabile. “Besides the fun part of it, Abe Lincoln Day will be an educational for children and adults.” Wild West City is a life-size replica of an 1880s frontier town located in Byram Township, NJ. Every day there are 22 live action shows, stagecoach, pony, and train rides, and gold digs, as well as a miniature golf course, farm animals and other activities.
