Highland - Joan M. Ross of Highland has been selected to receive the Helen G. Oehler Memorial Award given by the American Artists Professional League for her watercolor painting, “Drew Farm.” The league is a leading national organization dedicated to recognizing, encouraging and promoting traditional, representational art. Each year, the 75-year-old organization hosts its Grand National Exhibition, a show that highlights major and emerging professional artists in all media. Entries are accepted from all 50 states and judged by a selection committee consisting of professional artists in the fields of oil, watercolor, pastel and graphics, and sculpture. This year’s exhibition highlighted the achievements of over 170 artists, including Ross. The paintings and sculpture were on display recently at the Salmagundi Club Galleries in NYC.
