Ringwood gardeners show their artsy style
Ringwood - Their art isn’t just with flowers. Three Ringwood Garden Club members, Jane Nielsen, Janice Ramsay, and Mary Jo Sichak, are also local award-winning artists. The three have entered St. Catherine of Bologna’s Art Show, which will be held March 13, 14, and 15 at the Performing Arts Building on the St. Catherine of Bologna church grounds. Nielsen selected acrylic paint as her medium for her three art works of scenes in the Ringwood area. Nielsen has won several awards over the past few years and has been involved in helping to setup the show since its inception seven years ago. Ramsay has won five awards in the past seven years at this art show. This year she will exhibit two pencil drawings: “Neglected Past” and “Past Remembering.” Both drawings are of the burial grounds at Ringwood Manor. Ramsay’s third exhibit is a mixed media work which features acrylic paint, mulberry paper, and wood. Titled “Geta,” the theme of the art work has been developed from Ramsay’s special collection of Japanese shoes. Sichak is an award wining photographer with a special interest in nature photography. Sichak is entering three photos in the wildlife/animal category this year. One, of her dog Deva, is titled “Morning Has Broken.” The second entry is “Stuck UP,” a Cuban tree frog she photographed in Florida. The third, “In Fine Feather,” is a photo of a bird she photographed at the zoo. For more information on the art show, call 973-962-7032.
