2 join nonprofit’s board
NEWTON. Orlando Rodrigues and Ryan Hennion are new directors of the Center for Prevention & Counseling in Newton.
Orlando Rodrigues and Ryan Hennion have joined the board of directors of the Center for Prevention & Counseling in Newton.
The center provides substance-use prevention, evaluation, counseling and recovery support services to children, teens, adults and families in Sussex County.
“Their remarkable backgrounds, dedication to our community and passion for our mission will undoubtedly enrich our board’s collective enthusiasm and commitment,” said board president Cecelia Clayton.
“Orlando and Ryan have hit the ground running and continue to make valuable contributions to the center’s ongoing efforts to foster healthy families and communities in Sussex County.”
Rodrigues is the founder of a private law firm on Spring Street in Newton. Hailing from the Bronx and nurtured in Queens, he started selling candy from home at age 12.
In 2011, he moved to Sussex County and began studying at Rutgers School of Law. He spent his early years as a lawyer helping to create nonprofit organizations, handling real estate deals and giving legal advice to the board of directors.
In 2017, he opened his law firm, which now has offices in Dover and Keyport as well as Newton.
Rodrigues volunteers with the Sussex County Chamber of Commerce’s Sussex County Day.
Hennion is a Sussex County native who graduated from Wallkill Valley Regional High School in 1999.
Earning a degree in economics from Rutgers University, he began his career as an industrial chemical engineering contract administrator.
Paying homage to his father, Harry, the founding proprietor of Hennion CPAs in Lafayette, he continued his education by earning an accounting degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University.
Eventually,taking over Hennion CPAs from his father, he expanded the firm to include a second office in Morristown.
He serves on the Lakeland Bank advisory board and as a coach for the softball teams of his two children, Jack and Cecelia.
