Businessmen’s Club awards scholarships
BRANCHVILLE. Kaitlyn Poust of High Point Regional High School, Riley Hough of Kittatinny Regional High School and Marc Montalvo of Newton High School each received $2,000.
The Branchville Businessmen’s Club provided its annual scholarships to Kaitlyn Poust of High Point Regional High School, Riley Hough of Kittatinny Regional High School and Marc Montalvo of Newton High School.
Each received a scholarship of $2,000.
The recipients were chosen by a four-judge committee from multiple applicants based on a number of criteria, including academic performance, extracurricular involvement, special awards received, community activity, leadership and a required essay submission.
The essay topic was “As we hopefully are approaching the post-Covid era, what do you feel are the most valuable lessons learned as individuals, as communities and as a nation? What lessons are still needed to be learned?”
The annual scholarships are among the most important commitments that the club makes to the Sussex County community. It has awarded annual scholarships for more three decades.
Recently, if also has provided textbook scholarships to Sussex County Community College (SCCC). This year, SCCC students received a total of $500 in such scholarships.
Funds for the scholarships are raised by club members.
