Finnerty plays infield for FDU
SYSSEX. The High Point High School graduate had a .271 batting average during the spring.
Several local student athletes left their mark in collegiate sports during the spring.
• Jimmy Finnerty, a High Point High School graduate, was a senior infielder for the Fairleigh Dickinson University (Florham campus) baseball team. He played in 34 games and started in 26 of them. He had a .271 batting average with 23 hits, including six doubles and three home runs. He also scored 14 runs and had 19 RBIs.
The Devils had an 8-32 record overall. In the Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom Division, they went 4-20.
Finnerty is listed as a business administration major.
• Jada Hill, a Wallkill Valley Regional High School, was a senior sprinter for the Fairleigh Dickinson University (Florham campus) women’s track and field team.
FDU tied for 13th place at the Middle Atlantic Conference Outdoor Championships held in York, Pa.
Hill is listed as a 3D film and animation major.
• Trista Hough (High Point) and Antonia Tucci (Vernon Township High School) were members of the Centenary University (Hackettstown) women’s lacrosse squad.
Hough, a freshman midfielder started in all 13 games and recorded nine goals and an assist. She led the team by winning 51 ground balls.
Tucci, also a freshman midfielder, competed in 12 games and started in 11 of them. She tallied four goals and won 14 ground balls.
The Cyclones posted one victory, which they won on their home field.
Tucci is listed as an environmental science major, and Hough as an elementary education major.
• Emily Rhode (Vernon) was a freshman on the Drew University (Madison) women’s golf team. She placed fifth at both the Stockton Invitational and a Drew Tri-Match.
The Rangers were second in the Landmark Conference Championships at Glenmaura National Golf Club in Moosic, Pa.
• Brandon Mudrick (Wallkill Valley) was a sophomore member of the Felician University (Rutherford) golf squad.
He is listed as an accounting major.
