From Blondie to the blues and big bands

Get ready for another musical week in Sussex County, with performances by talented artists from rock bands to a world famous orchestra.

Friday, Nov. 10

Kick off your Friday evening at McQ’s Pub at Lake Lenape, 165 Andover Sparta Road, Newton, where Kenny & Gil will perform at 6 p.m.

Krogh’s Restaurant & Brew Pub, 23 White Deer Plaza, Sparta, will be the venue for an acoustic extravaganza starting at 6:30 p.m. Shane Casey and Sean Henry will take turns throughout their three-hour performance. Casey, known for his folk-classic rock melodies, will be followed by the versatile Henry, who excels as a guitarist, bassist, vocalist and songwriter.

Performing at 6:30 p.m. at the Alibi Beach Bar & Grill, 172 Lackawanna Drive, Stanhope, is Alibi favorite Jayce Kenny.

At 7 p.m., the Stanhope House, 45 Main St., will come alive with the electrifying sounds of Dirty Blond, a Blondie tribute band, and the punk favorite Porch Rockers. Tickets are $10 and may be purchased at the door.

For a night of harmonious melodies, head to the Newton Theatre, 234 Spring St., at 8 p.m. The Tenors, an acclaimed vocal group known for their fusion of classical, pop and contemporary styles, are sure to captivate your senses. Tickets start at $49 and may be purchased online at skypac.org

At 8 p.m., Brick & Brew, 27 Route 23, Franklin, will host the four-piece band Duck Face, promising a rocking good time.

End your night on a high note at O’Reilly’s Pub and Grill, 271 Spring St., Newton, which hosts a night of karaoke starting at 9 p.m.

Saturday, Nov. 11

Begin your Saturday at the Sparta Farmers Market, 89 S. Sparta Ave., and groove to the tunes of Mike Herz. The market promises a delightful morning with fresh produce and fantastic music.

Head over to Angry Erik Brewing, 2 Camre Drive, Newton, at 4 p.m. to enjoy the electrifying rock performance by Peter Dee and his electric guitar.

At 6:30 p.m., the Alibi will host Brother Flower, ensuring a night filled with tasteful tunes.

At 7 p.m., the North Jersey Blues Society will host a fundraiser at the Stanhope House. It features three bands and International Blues Challenge winners Eric Heilner, the Blues People band and the Alexis P. Suter Band. The event includes a silent auction and an autographed guitar raffle. Tickets are $25.

Catch the six-piece cover band, the Mugshots, at Blue Arrow Farm, 86 Glenwood Road, Pine Island, N.Y., at 7 p.m. for a night of memorable music.

Head over to Milk Street Distillery, 1 Milk St., Branchville at 7 p.m. to enjoy the diverse repertoire of the Retrocasters. Their music spans various styles, including rock, blues, soul, country and reggae.

McQ’s Pub at Lake Lenape will host Rick Barth at 7 p.m., offering a blend of rock and alternative Americana.

At 8 p.m., Hef’s Hut Bar and Grill, 414 County Road 517, Vernon, will feature Skyward Fall, a Hudson Valley band specializing in original rock and diverse covers.

Or head to Brick & Brew, where Matty Marz Acoustic will take the stage at 8 p.m.

Also at 8 p.m., the Newton Theatre will host the Artimus Pyle Band. Featuring Pyle, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Lynyrd Skynyrd drummer, this band delivers an exceptional tribute to the band led by Ronnie Van Zant. Tickets start at $39 and may be purchased online at skypac.org

End your night on a classic rock note as the Kootz take the stage at O’Reilly’s Pub, starting at 9 p.m.

Sunday, Nov. 12

Enjoy a relaxing Sunday with the acoustic rock tunes of Rick Barth at Angry Erik Brewing starting at 2:30 p.m.

At 3 p.m., transport yourself back in time with the world famous Glenn Miller Orchestra at the Newton Theatre. With its unique jazz sound, the big band is considered one of the greatest bands of all time. Tickets start at $39 and may be purchased online at skypac.org

Wednesday, Nov. 15

At 5 p.m., join the weekly tradition as Sean Henry performs at McQ’s Pub. It’s the perfect way to unwind mid-week.

Thursday, Nov. 16

Head to the Homestead Rest, 294 N. Church Road, Sparta, for the weekly acoustic open mic, from 6 to 9 p.m.. Showcase your musical talents in a laid-back and supportive atmosphere. Sign-up begins at 5:30 p.m.

At 9:30 p.m., Krogh’s will host Michael Glabicki of Rusted Root with Dirk Miller. This unique performance features re-envisioned versions of Rusted Root’s songs in a more intimate setting. Entry is by ticket only, and attendees must be 21 or older. Tickets may be purchased on Eventbrite.
