Lakeland donates $3,000 to firefighters

Lakeland Bank recently donated $3,000 to support the members of the West Milford Fire Department who fought the Kanouse wildfire in April.
The fire started near the rest stop off Route 23 North and Spring Lake Road and eventually burned more than 970 acres.
“Many of our associates and customers are located in this area, and we are happy to support those who went above and beyond to save so many homes, business and woodlands,” said Rehab Elmoslemany, vice president and area manager of Lakeland, which is based in Oak Ridge.
”We are indebted to them for all that they do for the community.”
71 calls in June
In June, the West Milford Fire Department responded to a total of 71 calls, including 32 fire alarms and six carbon monoxide alarms.
There were six Medivac incidents, five motor vehicle incidents, five utility fires/emergencies, four structure fires, three brush fires/open burning, one vehicle fire, one gas leak and one water rescue.
West Milford also had five calls for mutual aid to other departments.
