Man charged with attempted murder
WANTAGE. State police find Donald Simpson, 70, in a home with multiple gunshot wounds.
Daniel Simpson, 34, of Wantage was charged with attempted murder after New Jersey State Police responded to a shooting incident about 4:50 p.m. Monday, Jan. 22.
Based on a preliminary investigation, troopers arrived at a single-family home on County Road in Wantage on a shooting complaint.
They found Donald Simpson, 70, there with multiple gunshot wounds, according to a State Police spokesman. Two dogs were dead of gunshot wounds.
Donald Simpson, reportedly the father of Daniel Simpson, was taken to a hospital in critical condition.
Troopers found and arrested Daniel Simpson without incident. They also found a firearm.
Daniel Simpson also was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
State police are continuing the investigation.
