Newton man killed in crash
CLIFTON. A Honda Civic driven by a 52-year-old man was struck by a Chevy Trailblazer operated by a 35-year-old woman from Madison.


A man from Newton was killed in a motor vehicle collision Wednesday, March 12 in Clifton, according to Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia Valdes and Clifton Police Chief Thomas Rinaldi..
About 11:40 a.m., the Clifton Police Department responded to the area of Getty Avenue and Crooks Avenue on a report of a collision.
Officers found that a Chevy Trailblazer operated by a 35-year-old woman from Madison was traveling at a high rate of speed when it struck a Honda Civic and a Dodge Ram Truck.
As the Trailblazer continued down Getty Avenue, it also struck a Toyota Rav 4 and a Volkswagen Jetta.
The driver of the Civic, a 52-year-old man from Newton, was taken to St. Joseph’s University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. His name was not released.
Injuries to other victims were not life-threatening, and no pedestrians were injured as a result of the collision.
The cause of the crash is undetermined, and the investigation is active and ongoing.
