The Newton Police Department responded to a report of an armed individual entering Newton Medical Center on Friday, May 17, it reported in a post on Facebook.
The post said the hospital implemented lockdown procedures after receiving the report to ensure the safety of its patients, staff and visitors.
Newton police officers, supported by several other law enforcement agencies, found the individual quickly, and an investigation determined that there was no threat to the public. The lockdown was lifted.
