SCCC cuts cost of prior-learning credits
NEWTON. With the new rate, students may save about $200 for a typical three-credit course.
Sussex County Community College (SCCC) has reduced its fees associated with its Credit for Prior Learning program.
The initiative is designed to help students translate their professional, military and life experiences into academic credits. SCCC allows students to earn credits toward certificates or degrees by demonstrating proficiency in skills and knowledge that align with course learning outcomes.
Effective immediately, the cost of the Credit for Prior Learning process has been reduced to $50 per credit hour. With the new rate, students may save about $200 for a typical three-credit course.
SCCC’s Credit for Prior Learning program involves a thorough review and assessment process to evaluate each student’s life and work experiences to determine their alignment with course objectives and subject matter mastery.

Spring semester
SCCC opens registration for the spring semester Monday, Nov. 18.
More than 100 degree and certificate programs are available.
They include Career and Technical Education programs with more than 32 Associate of Applied Science options. The programs are designed to prepare students for in-demand jobs immediately after graduation.
New Jersey students at SCCC may qualify for the Community College Opportunity Grant, which provides tuition-free education to students with a household adjusted gross income up to $85,000.
SCCC also offers a winter session beginning Jan. 2. This accelerated, 2 1/2-week session is online only.
