Tributes to the Dead, Genesis

Get ready for another week of acoustic jams, open mics and karaoke throughout Sussex County.

Friday, Jan. 19

The weekend kicks off at 6:30 p.m. with the Dave & John Acoustic duo serenading the audience at Skylands Craft Beer & Wine Garden, 447 Route 284, Wantage, with feel-good music spanning the past few decades.

Holzli, a dynamic trio born out of Rutgers University, will grace the stage at 6:30 p.m. at Krogh’s Restaurant & Brew Pub, 23 White Deer Plaza, Sparta. Holzli draws influences from such classic rock legends as Jimi Hendrix and David Bowie to alternative heavyweights, such as Soundgarden and Incubus.

The Stanhope House, 45 Main St., will host the funky, jazzy, rockin’ guitarist extraordinaire B.D. Lenz at 7 p.m. Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door.

To hear vinyl spinning, head to Milk Street Distillery, 1 Milk St., Branchville, at 7 p.m. for Paul Derin’s Booze & Grooves night.

Or visit McQ’s Pub at Lake Lenape, 165 Andover Sparta Road, Newton, at 7 p.m. to hear the I-287 Classic Rock Duo.

For those feeling a bit more adventurous, O’Reilly’s Pub and Grill, 271 Spring St., Newton, offers a night of karaoke starting at 9 p.m.

Saturday, Jan. 20

Choose from a diverse selection of performances, including Erik Hein of Flannel Jam who will take the stage from 6 to 9 p.m. at Homestead Rest, 294 N. Church Road, Sparta, for a mix of ’90s and 2000s alternative and rock.

McQ’s Pub will feature Cat Treats with its groovy tunes at 7 p.m., while Raw Deal, a power quintet, will captivate the audience at Milk Street Distillery with a blend of rock & roll, blues, R&B and country.

For Grateful Dead enthusiasts, head to Blue Arrow Farm, 86 Glenwood Rpad, Pine Island, N.Y., at 7 p.m. for a dinner show featuring Touch of Grey, the northern New Jersey Grateful Dead cover band.

Or visit the Stanhope House at 7 p.m. to see one of the premier Grateful Dead tributes in the tristate area, Trouble Junction.

For those in the mood for classic rock, DUG the Band will be performing at Tony’s Restaurant Pizza & Pub, 2771 Route 23, Stockholm, at 8 p.m.

Also at 8 p.m. at the Newton Theatre, 234 Spring St., the Genesis Show will recreate the Phil Collins era of Genesis, with tickets starting at $39 online at skypac.org

Black Radish will bring its multi-genre mix to O’Reilly’s Pub and Grill at 9 p.m. to cap off Saturday night.

Wednesday, Jan. 24

McQ’s Pub invites you to join Sean Henry’s weekly Wednesday night mix at 5 p.m.

Also at 5 p.m, Blue Arrow Farm presents Danny C’s Wednesday Winter Concert Series featuring Summer Breeze playing yacht rock at an indoor beach party with prizes for the best beach attire.

Thursday, Jan. 25

Homestead Rest will host an acoustic open mic night at 6 p.m., with sign-ups starting at 5:30 p.m.

Inner Love Market Lounge, 12 Church St., Vernon, will be hosting its open mic night starting at 6:30 p.m.

Krogh’s gears up for a distinctive show at 6:30 p.m. with Mike Oregano, a one-man band sensation promising a unique reggae/hip-hop/jazz style performance. It showcases his ability to play multiple instruments simultaneously.
