Very musical weekend planned
SUSSEX COUNTY. Bands are playing in the park, at a farmers market, and on stages in bars, restaurants and theaters.
Prepare to immerse yourself in a week of live music performances across Sussex County. With an abundance of shows, there’s an act for every music lover!
Erin McKenna kicks off the weekend at 6 p.m. Friday, July 14. Live at the Lafayette House, 75 Route 15, McKenna will captivate with his rock, pop and blues covers.
Also starting at 6 p.m., the Alibi Beach Bar & Grill, 172 Lackawanna Drive, Stanhope, welcomes local favorite Jayce Kenny to the lakeside stage.
At Krogh’s Restaurant & Brew Pub, 23 White Deer Plaza, Sparta, Mike Herz will rock the pub solo with his acoustic folk set from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Known for his exploration of new sounds and arrangements, Herz’s performance promises to be a memorable one.
For something a little louder, head to the Stanhope House, 4 Main St., where independent rapper, composer and audio engineer Chris Borelli will showcase his talent. Doors open at 7 p.m.; tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door.
Dykstra Park, 4 Mohawk Ave., will come alive with the sounds of the Dave Stryker Trio as part of Sparta’s Summer Concert Series from 7 to 10 p.m.
Dave Stryker is known for his virtuosic jazz guitar skills. He has led his group in recording an astounding 35 CDs, with the past five reaching the top spot on JazzWeek’s Radio chart.
The Newton Theatre, 234 Spring St., will be hosting a performance by Southern Hospitality on Friday night. This band brings a breath of fresh air to classic styles, such as Delta blues, Memphis soul and boogie-woogie.

If you’re in the mood for high-energy rock, look no further than Brick & Brew, 27 Route 23, Franklin. Stage Fright will take the stage at 8 p.m. ready to delight the crowd. Despite the band name, Stage Fright is no stranger to the limelight.
Start your Saturday morning, July 15 at 10 a.m. by being transported by the enchanting melodies of Dani Zanoni live with DnA at the Sparta Farmers Market, 89 S. Sparta Ave.
At 6 p.m. on the Alibi lakefront, Blue Emerald Band will cover their favorite rock ‘n’ roll hits to get you moving.
From 7 to 11 p.m., Pronto will play the Stanhope House; tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door.
Branchville’s Milk Street Distillery, 1 Milk St., invites you to immerse yourself in the soulful “mud-funk” tunes of Uncle Stump from 7 to 10 p.m.
Hef’s Hut Bar and Grill, 414 County Road 517, Vernon, welcomes back Black Radish with their blend of covers and Radish originals starting at 8 p.m.
Fans of ‘80s bluegrass are in for a treat as Frankie Goes to Dollywood takes the stage at Brick & Brew at 8 p.m.
Wrap up your Saturday night starting at 9 p.m. at O’Reilly’s Pub & Grill, 271 Spring St., Newton, where Chris Perelli will serenade you with a repertoire of songs from the ‘70s to the ‘90s.
Ease into your Sunday afternoon with the soothing acoustic covers of Julia Kirk at the Krogh’s Nest rooftop bar in Sparta from 1 to 4 p.m.
For some afternoon fun, head to the Skylands Craft Beer & Wine Garden, 447 Route 284, Wantage, from 3 to 7 p.m. to catch the Harrisons.
Starting at 3:30 p.m., the Free Shrimp Band will play their vibrant tunes at the Alibi.
Wind down your week with music on Thursday, July 20 at Krogh’s. Billy Ruddy’s versatile sounds will cover from the ‘50s to today from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
At the Stanhope House, the mesmerizing vocals of Lauren Monroe will take center stage at 7 p.m. Drawing inspiration from legendary artists such as Bonnie Raitt, Linda Ronstadt and Janis Joplin, Monroe’s raw yet spiritual performance will leave you spellbound.
