On the front line

Lance Cpl. Frank Kane, an engineer with the 3rd Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment (reinforced) stands by while an Afghan national policeman prepares to enter a house in Afghanistan’s Farah province during a cordon and search mission. Kane’s unit serves as the ground combat element of Special Purpose Marine Air-Ground Task Force. He has been in Afghanistan since early November and is expected to return to Camp Le Jeune mid-June. Kane is a 2006 graduate of Sparta High School and is the son of Frank and Pat Kane, and brother to Michael Kane.
