Atlantic Private Care opens office

Newton — Where the baby boomers are, Atlantic Private Care will follow. Next year, the first wave of the post-World War II Baby Boomer Generation turns 65. Atlantic Private Care Services, a licensed home health care affiliate of Atlantic Health, one of New Jersey’s largest healthcare systems, has opened an office in Newton to serve the escalating health care needs of the baby boomer population in Sussex County. They will hold an Open House on Friday, June 26, from 5 to 8 p.m. Refreshments will be served. While the New Jersey’s coastal counties of Ocean and Cape May have long been the communities associated with retirement living, Sussex County has been flying under the senior citizen radar. This is due in part to its lower population density for all ages compared to the state’s coastal counties. With the first of the baby boomers, those born in 1946, becoming eligible for Medicare in 2011, that’s all going to change. According to the US Bureau of the Census, there are 8,260 people in Sussex County over the age of 65, and 23,876 over the age of 50. This latter number is the age that AARP, the association to promote the interests of older Americans, puts you on their “senior citizen” mailing list. Bob Maloney, CFO of Atlantic Private Care Services and the architect of its expansion program, as well as a resident of the nearby town of Lafayette, said. “We’ve heard over and again that there is a need for quality providers in Sussex County. We hope to bring the quality private duty homecare that we’ve been providing for over 25 years to the residents of Sussex County.” With services in Morris, Union, Essex and Somerset Counties, Atlantic Private Care will use its Newton office to provide for the growing need of home care services for seniors at the local level in Sussex County.
