‘DigIN' online farmer's market offers a new way to shop

“DigIN,” an online farmers’ market, composed of a group of northern Warren and Sussex County farmers offers consumers an opportunity to sell their own products directly to the consumer via” an online market place.” The Web site is: www.blairstown.locallygrown.net. Customers order online and then pickup their orders at market pickup locations in Blairstown on Fridays, from 4:30 to 6 p.m.; or in Andover on Saturdays, from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Products are ordered online several days prior to pickup, allowing the farmers to harvest as ordered, so all food is freshly picked, according to “DigIN” officials. All vendors sell directly to the customer and set their own pricing, just like a physical market. However, the customer is able to order online, can determine what products are available from which vendors, can order exactly what they want in the quantities they need, and can pay in one check for goods from all the vendors. Paypal and credit card payments are accepted via the Web site. Products offered include: USDA retail cuts of beef, pork, lamb and goat from LL Pittenger Farm; ostrich from Fossil Farms, produce from Best’s Fruit Farm; Race Farm, Kimball’s Farm, Menegus Farm, Flower Creek Farm and Arena Farms; free-range eggs from Green Quest and Chirip’s Crooked Creek Farms; cheese from Springhouse Creamery; perennials and heirloom tomato transplants from Triple Creek Farm and Nursery; bagged compost and soil from Ag-Choice; cut flower bouquets from Little Big Farm; baked goods from the Cupcake Factory; jams from Flower Creek Farm and locally-roasted coffee from Water Gap Coffee Co. The Blairstown location is at Triple Creek Farm and Nursery, a quarter mile off of Route 94, at 42 Frog Pond Rd. The Andover Borough location at The Grist Mill Cafe, at the intersection of Routes 206 and 517. “DigIN” offers fundraising opportunities for schools or church organizations.
