Early morning fire at condo complex

Vernon — Many of the residents of the Hidden Valley condo community were awakened early Sunday morning, Nov. 27, around 2:30 a.m., to the sounds of Vernon police cars, fire trucks and other emergency vehicles responding to a call reporting a fire in a clothes dryer. According to Vernon Police, the call came in at 2:01 a.m. for a fire at a residence on Village Way. Multiple officers responded, police say, including Vernon Township Police, Vernon Township EMS, Vernon Township Fire Department and Highland Lakes Fire Department. The fire was quickly extinguished by the unit resident, according to a local resident, and no one was hurt. Police say the fire departments cleared the scene by 2:56 a.m. As a precaution the responding members of the Vernon Fire Department removed the dryer from the premises.
