Feoranzo named liaison

WANTAGE - Wantage Township has named Christine Feoranzo to serve as its liaison with residents as well as state and federal officials to explore options for the future of the Lake Neepaulin dam. Bill DeBoer, the town’s Deputy Mayor, reached out to Feoranzo last week to see if she could brainstorm with local citizens about options for addressing the Lake Neepaulin dam, according to Township Administrator Jim Doherty. The dam has needed repairs for several years. Its future was thrown into doubt on June 1 after the three-member Wantage Township Committee voted unanimously to rescind an October 2008 ordinance that authorized the town co-signing a $1 million loan to repair the dam along with Friends of Lake Neepaulin, a community association. At this point, it’s not clear how or whether the dam will be repaired. Eileen McCarthy Born, an attorney who represents FOLN, said the 100-member group can’t afford to pay for the dam repairs on its own. Feoranzo is a member of the Wantage Township Recreation Committee who also chairs the Northwest New Jersey Sierra Club.
