Wantage — At the invitation of the Friends of Lake Neepaulin (FOLN), the Wantage First Aid and Rescue Squad met with Lake Neepaulin residents Aug. 12 at Lake Neepaulin Beach to demonstrate emergency techniques. Throughout the meeting, Squad Chief Michael Puskas presented useful information about emergency situations, ranging from insect stings to heart failure and strokes. In discussing a variety of automobile accidents, he and Bill DeBoer emphasized the importance of wearing seat belts at all times. Squad members then demonstrated CPR for adults and infants, how to use a defibrillator, the Heimlich maneuver for choking victims and immobilizing a victim with a spinal injury on a backboard. FOLN co-vice president Elizabeth Shevlin organized the program.
