Hold the contractors, not the taxpayers liable

My family has lived in Hardyston for 15 years and while we have never had children in the public school system, we willingly pay property taxes to support local public schools. I am outraged to understand the middle school has had leaking roof conditions since it opened five years ago. Now, we taxpayers are being asked for an additional $1.7 million to repair what is obviously shoddy workmanship! Question...isn’t that what contractors post performance bonds for? We already pay among the highest property taxes in the nation. How dare the board of education complain that we decide not to pay again for contractor incompetence!
