Local gymnast takes titles

Hardyston — Westys Gymnastics recently became the home to the New Jersey State Copper Division Floor Exercise Champion. Danielle Lopes, 7, from Hardyston, took this title while attending the state USAIGC Gymnastics Meet, with a score of 9.42. This score helped her place fourth all-around as well. Some other high scores from the event include: Samantha Lopes scored 8.75 on bars and took third on vault as well as fifth all around in the bronze division. Jada Smith of Sparta scored 8.55 on floor in the Silver division. Jada Molina scored 9.30 on floor, placing her in the top 10 in the Copper division. Mackenzie Kiernan of Lafayette scored 8.8 on the balance beam, placed her in the top 10 in the Copper division.
