Eagle scout plans project at park
HARDYSTON — Ryan Kostelnik, a Life Scout in Boy Troop 90, gave a presentation at the April 13, 2016 Hardyston Township Council Meeting.
Kostelnik proposed he would like to do his Eagle Scout Project at Wheatsworth Park. Kostelnik explained to Council members that he noticed that the layout of the park can be confusing to the sports teams to find the correct field for the practices or the games. Kostelnik told the mayor and council members that he would like to put an overhead view map of the park with field numbers and trails. His reasoning is that sports teams can tell their own teams which field number the event will take place. In addition, Kostelnik said that the Hardyston sports teams can tell the visiting sports team the exact number of the field the event will take place.
Kostelnik said he supports this project because it will eliminate confusion between teams as to what team had what field at the specific time intended. He suggested that he would like to put the map in an encased wooden structure with a Plexi-glass like material covering it. He also wants to match this with the new stretching posts which were added recently.
Kostelnik gave a general overview map of some potential locations.
Hardyston Township Manager Marianne Smith explained to Mayor Leslie Hamilton and the council that she received the letter from Kostelnik and invited him to the council meeting to present his Eagle Scout Project.
In the letter Smith stated, “I think you have come up with a great idea.” Smith explained that “on behalf of the Township Council, we are very proud of your dedication, culminating in the opportunity to seek the Eagle Scout designation. It is very admirable and we congratulate you on your consistent commitment to your community.”
