FBLA members head to Washington
Hamburg. Members of the Wallkill Valley Regional High School Future Business Leaders of America attended the National Fall Leadership Conference in Washington from Oct. 31 until Nov. 3
Twenty-four members of the Wallkill Valley Regional High School chapter of Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) attended the 2019 FBLA-PBL National Fall Leadership Conference in Washington, DC, from October 31 to November 3.
Members participated in various motivational general sessions and workshops in order to develop their leadership skills. They were able to reflect on how FBLA offers “A World of Opportunity” with members and advisers, which is the 2019-2020 national theme.
John Guydon was the keynote speaker for the Conference Opening Session; he amazed the audience as he focused on how to grow professionally and personally while maximizing efficiency.
The closing session featured Anne Bonney who ignited the audience’s courage to embrace the uncomfortable--in change, in communication, and in becoming influential with others. Students attended workshops that included: “Good Citizenship and You,” “Use of Technology in College and Career,” “Networking Your Way to Success,” “How 7 Seconds Can Change Your Life,” and “The 5 Dysfunctions of a Team.”
The New Jersey contingency had the opportunity to network with members from states across the Nation; take in the Washington sites including the Bureau of Engraving and Printing, the White House, the Capitol, and monuments and museums along the National Mall; and experience a state family-style dinner at Buca di Beppo.
