Harvest House turkey dinner goes take-out

Harvest House’s Annual Turkey Dinner is on this year in a new, safe format.
Because of the Covid-19 pandemic, Harvest House volunteers and high school DECA Club members will serve take-out dinners only for $10 cash or check made payable to Harvest House.
All food will be prepared at Vernon Township High School on Saturday, Oct. 17 serving the dinners from 4-7 p.m. The dinner includes turkey and gravy, stuffing, vegetables, sweet and white mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, roll/butter and dessert. Patrons will pay near the main entrance of the high school, then drive around to the back-cafeteria kitchen door to pick up dinners.
At last year’s dinner, Harvest House volunteers served 400 meals and they hope to serve just as many this year as the dinner is one of Harvest House’s main supportive events.
Donations of supermarket gift cards, check and cash donations are appreciated at the dinner. Donations can also be mailed to Harvest House P.O. Box 374 Glenwood, NJ 07418.
Harvest House has long been a community lunch program, anchored in Sussex Borough, that distributes nutritious lunches Monday through Friday from 11:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The pandemic did not affect this essential mission to low-income families and individuals. Harvest House President Denise O’Connor was nominated by Sussex Mayor Ed Meyer and was presented the Hometown Heroes Award by Congressman Josh Gottheimer on July 6.
