McHose honors local man for WWII service
OGDENSBURG — Assemblywoman Alison Littell McHose recently honored longtime borough resident Joe Masar, who served in the United States Army in World War II.
Masar was given the Distinguished Service Medal, which was presented to World War II Veterans, in honor of the 68th Anniversary of Victory over Japan Day.
“It is truly an honor to recognize all the brave men and women who served this country proudly in World War II,” said McHose, who is the wife of an active duty Army National Guardsman. “I was more than happy to be able to be at the memorial with my daughter Molly to pay tribute to Joe. We must pass down the legacy of the heroes of World War II to our youth so the knowledge of the sacrifices of the “Greatest Generation” will go on forever.”
