Newton Sierra Club to screen climate change film
The new documentary film Paris to Pittsburgh by filmmaker Sidney Beaumont addresses how Americans are affected by and reacting to climate change. A screening hosted by the Skylands Sierra Club will be held Tuesday, June 11 at 7 p.m., at Unitarian Fellowship Hall, 1 West Nelson St., Newton.
All are welcome to attend free of charge.
The title of this National Geographic film refers to President Trump’s decision to pull the U.S. out of the Paris Climate Agreement saying he represents Pittsburgh not Paris. But Pittsburgh itself has not pulled out of the Agreement and is one of the leading U.S. cities fighting climate change. The film emphasizes that change is possible and brings to life the impassioned efforts of Americans who are battling the most severe threats of climate change in their own backyards. Paris to Pittsburgh documents the determined commitment by many people to adapt and innovate, even in the absence of federal leadership.
