Ten containers labeled with the names of willing pie targets were available for students to select if they made a cash contribution. The staff member with the highest amount collected had the honor of being pied three times. The 11th pie target, Assistant Principal/Social Studies Teacher Mike Ryder of Franklin, was coerced by the crowd of students into joining the other 10 staffers as a target. He cheerfully stepped forward and took a pie in the face delivered by Superintendent/Principal Tim Nicinski.

The pie throwers earned the privilege to hurl gooey creme pies by memorizing the most places of the mathematical constant pi. Trevor Washer was the top memorizer with 46 places. Appropriately enough, Math Teacher Valerie Reeth of Highland Lakes collected the most money. The students had a great time throwing or cheering, the staff stoically accepted the pie barrage and $432.13 was sent to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
