The borough's Boy Scout Trooop 90 recently attended camp at Patriot's Path Council's Camp Somers in Allamuchy.

Franklin's Troop 90 Boy Scouts earned a total of 50 merit badges for the week resulting in 10 newly-achieved rank advancements at its recent Court of Awards. Besides diligently pursuing requirements for those merit badges, Troop 90 won three camp-wide competitions for its week of summer camp.

First, Ryan Kostelnik, Devin Walz and Jake Hubbard won Canoe Wars in an all-out blitz where scouts tried to sink each other's canoes by dumping buckets of water in their enemies' canoes. From approximately 50 canoes outfitted with three participants each, they were the last canoe standing, really just not capsized.

Troop 90 also had the honor of winning the Siesta Cup, which means as a group, they scored the most points against other troops in a variety of competitive games, such as volleyball, ultimate Frisbee and bike polo, which are held after every luncheon meal. Finally, the scouts' week of International Intrigue, this year's summer camp theme, culminated in each troop participating in a Black Ops mission.

Troop 90 had the honor of being awarded the first-place championship at the final campfire presentation. If you would like to join Troop 90 and enjoy some adventure, come to one of our

troop meetings, held every Monday night, excepting when school is not in session, at 7 p.m. at Franklin's Senior Center adjacent to the Franklin Pond Recreation Area or call Gary Hintzen 973-827-3194.
