Troop 98 completes Adventure Camp
FRANKLIN — Franklin Troop 90 took a contingent of scouts to Sabattis Adventure Camp for a week long canoeing trek in the Adirondacks.
The troop arrived at base camp on Saturday and set up its site. On Sunday, the boys participated in some Pre-Trek drills and preparation, and departed base camp on Monday morning to begin the trek.
The troop put in at Blue Mountain Lake, continued to Utowana Lake, Raquette Lake, Forked Lakes, Long Lake, Buttermilk Falls, Raquette River, and finishing at Tupper Lake. The boys' journey took about 75 miles and lasted 5 days. During the trek, they carried all of their camping gear and food and stayed at locations along the waterways. During the trip, the boys encountered wind and some rain as well as other waterway traffic.
When they returned to camp on Friday, all of the scouts showered up and rested a bit. Then they went to the Town of Tupper Lake for a well-deserved pizza dinner. On Saturday morning, the boys left to return to Franklin.
