Woman’s Club presents scholarships and awards
Vernon. The GFWC Vernon Township Woman’s Club acknowledges students’ academic achievement and ability to overcome obstacles, as well as Court of Honor Boy Scouts.
The GFWC Vernon Township Woman’s Club has announced the recipients of its annual scholarships, selected based on their community service and an essay describing how a memorable volunteer experience affected their lives.
The club provides financial awards to seniors from area high schools through its annual scholarship program. The 2021 recipients are:
● Kayla Barca from Vernon Township High School, who will attend the University of Connecticut to study pharmacy.
● Hannah Kolonoski from Vernon Township High School, who will attend Moravian College to study mathematics and secondary education.
● Mia Lapinski from Sussex County Technical School, who will attend Duquesne University to study speech language pathology.
● Catherine Lovett from Pope John XXIII High School who will attend Moravian College to study nursing.
The Vernon Township Woman’s Club wishes these girls and all graduating seniors the best of luck in their future career paths.
Academic Achievement Awards
Four eighth-grade students from Glen Meadow Middle School were presented with the club’s annual Most Academic Improvement Awards after being selected by their teachers. Recipients honored for overcoming unprecedented challenges during the 2020-21 school year are:

Court of Honor
The Woman’s Club also presented awards to five local Boy Scouts at their Court of Honor for achieving the rank of Eagle Scout. The recipients of these awards are:

● Joseph Chromcik
● Evan Duerr
● Yorgo Liaros
The GFWC Vernon Township Woman’s Club, part of the New Jersey State Federation of Women’s Clubs, has been serving the community since 1972.
