Vernon - A three-car collision on Route 517 in Vernon just before noon on April 17 claimed the lives of a Massachusetts man and a woman believed to have been his wife. Steve Olesin, 56, of Acton, Mass., was driving south on Route 517 near the intersection of Black Creek Road at around 11:52 a.m. on Monday when his 1998 Volvo crashed into a 2002 Chevy pickup being driven by Patrick McGrogan of Eric Trail in Vernon and a 2003 Ford being driven by Bryan Hynes of Birch Drive in Vernon, according to Bill Fitzgibbons, a first assistant with the Sussex County Prosecutor’s office in Newton. The crash is still under investigation and it isn’t clear yet which direction the vehicles driven by McGrogan and Hynes were heading in at the time of the crash, said Fitzgibbons. A passenger in the Volvo who died was identified as Jane B. Olesin. Her date of birth and relationship to the driver had not yet been determined, said Fitzgibbons. Charges have not yet been filed pending the outcome of the investigation, said Fitzgibbons. He said it wasn’t clear what had caused the crash.
