NORWESCAP gives honors at recognition ceremony
LAFAYETTE NORWESCAP Child and Family Resource Services recently held a Provider Appreciation Night at The Lafayette House in Lafayette, recognizing child care providers for their efforts in providing care for children of working parents. Registered family child care providers Michelle Melgarejo, Beth Squire, Cheryl Petrizzo , Lisa Brunell, Ivette Velez, Jackie Schmitt, and Vera Reed were honored for their commitment to serving healthy meals to young children through the Child and Adult Care Food Program. A special recognition was presented to Vera Reed, Registered Family Child Care Provider for 21 years of participating in the food program. Lisa Brunell was presented with a recognition certificate for participating in the most NORWESCAP training and Patricia Kutcha for accumulating the most CDA training hours. Michelle Melgarejo, Jackie Schmitt, Georgina Marchese and Lisa Brunell were recognized for their participation in the Executive Board of New Jersey Family Child Care Provider’s Association. NORWESCAP Child & Family Resource Services also recognized the efforts of licensed child care programs participating in initiatives focused on quality improvements and building stronger families. The Sussex County YMCA, Little Kids Place Too, Blessed Beginnings Preschool, Great Beginnings Children’s Learning Center and Jackie Schmitt were awarded certificates for participation in “Together 4 Quality,” an Accreditation Facilitation Project. Early care providers participating in the Strengthening Families through Early Care & Education Initiative were recognized for their commitment to prevent child abuse and neglect. Certificates were awarded to Roe’s Country Day Care, Prince of Peach Early Learning Center, West Shore Child Care, Camp Iliff, L’il Keepers, Second Home Child Care, Building Blocks Child Care, Susan’s Family Learning Center. Roe’s Country Day Care was recognized for its commitment to professional development. Roe’s Country Day Care received an award for having the most staff attendance at NORWESCAP CFRS training. Camp Auxilium received a special recognition for promoting the field of early care and education by having the most staff participating in Child Development Associates (CDA) training. Receiving certificates for their commitment to provide quality child care services were Bright Beginnings, Head Start- Sussex, Michelle Melgarejo, Jackie Schmitt and Great Beginnings Children’s Learning Center.
