Newton Police report that a registered sex offender was arrested on Friday, May 8 at 9 a.m., after a cooperative investigation with the Franklin Police Department revealed that the registrant failed to notify either police department of a change of address nearly three months earlier. Newton Police Detectives arrested Jason Hompesch, a 24-year-old construction laborer, and charged him with failing to notify the Newton Police Department when he moved to a Sussex Street address in February, as he was required to do under Megan’s Law. Hompesch was served with a criminal complaint summons and released pending a required appearance in Superior Court.
