Presidential musicians play for vernon high school students

Three members of ‘The President’s Own Marine Band and Chamber Orchestra’ recently presented a program and answered questions during music performance classes at Vernon Township High School. Seated, from left, are Marine musicians Master Gunnery Sgt. Betsy Hill, Staff Sgt. Charlie Powers and Staff Sgt. Joseph DeLuccio, a Vernon native and school graduate. The musicians gave students a history of the band and chamber orchestra, as well as information about other military bands. They also discussed the paths each took to become professional musicians and offered advice for students contemplating careers in music.
