Girl Scouts of Northern New Jersey, Vernon Service Unit, Troop 844, led by Barbara Slate and Ruth Cruz, marched in the township’s Memorial Day Parade. The troop has adopted two United States Marines, 1st Lt. Shawn E. McCann and Lance Cpl. Shaun P. Barrett, and the Scouts will be presenting the Marines with a certificate of adoption at a later date. This particular troop has also sent care packages overseas to the United States Marines serving in Iraq, and will be sending additional care packages in the near future.
