Vernon graduate leads Georgian Court's defense
John Stellingwerf (Vernon High School) was a sophomore defender for the Georgian Court University men’s lacrosse team this year. Stellingwerf played in 16 games and tallied a goal for the Lions.
The Lions had an overall mark of 11-6 with a 5-2 record at home. In the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) they went 5-0. Georgian Court hosted and won the first ever CACC Men’s Lacrosse Championship with a 9-7 final round victory over Chestnut Hill college.
Miranda Burns (Vernon High School) and Erika Bath (High Point High School) were both seniors for the Centenary University women’s lacrosse program this spring. Bath, a midfielder, started in 10 games and collected a team-high nine goals for the Cyclones. Burns, who played attack, started in all 12 games and posted two goals.
The Cyclones had one victory on the season. Burns is listed as a Sports Management and Social Media Marketing major and Bath is listed as a Business Administration major with a concentration in marketing.
Nick Biango (Vernon High School) was a freshman who played attack for the Centenary University men’s lacrosse squad this past season. Biango, listed as a Business Management major, played in 12 games and started in three of them for the Cyclones. He tallied three goals for Centenary.
The Cyclones posted an overall record of 5-8, with three wins on their home field. They went 4-3 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC). They advanced to the CSAC Tournament where they lost to Cabrini University in a game held in Radnor, Pa.
Chris Morville (High Point High School) was a junior for the Drew University men’s tennis team this year. Morville had three wins in singles competition. In doubles, he had nine total victories.
The Rangers had an overall record of 16-4 and they were 9-1 on their home courts. In the Landmark Conference, they had a mark of 5-2.
Christian Capuano (Vernon High School) and Richard Stecher (Wallkill Valley High School) were both members of the Fairleigh Dickinson University (Florham, NJ campus) baseball team this year. Stecher, a sophomore outfielder, played in four games and had a hit for the Devils. Capuano, a sophomore pitcher, appeared in two games and recorded 10 strikeouts on the mound for FDU.
The Devils tallied 10 overall victories this spring. Stecher is listed as a Sports Management major and Capuano is listed as a Business major.
