Dec. 12 Eduardo Rodriguez-Machado, age 47, of Columbus, Ohio, was sentenced to four years in New Jersey State Prison. He must also provide his DNA. Rodriguez-Machado pled guilty on September 17, 2008 to third degree burglary and third degree theft. He admitted to entering the back door of the Mixing Bowl Deli in Vernon going into the manager’s private office and attempting to take money that was on the desk. Christine E. Snyder, age 37, of Hackettstown, was sentenced to three years probations and 100 hours of community service. She is also required to submit her DNA and obtain employment. She must pay court costs and fines and pay $575.67 in restitution to The Plumbing Store in Stanhope and $1624.24 in restitution to Hamburg Plumbing Supply. Snyder pled guilty on October 15, 2008 to one count of third degree issuing bad checks and one count of fourth degree issuing bad checks. She admitted to issuing checks to The Plumbing Store in Stanhope and Hamburg Plumbing Supply knowing that her bank account was closed. Dec. 15 Thomas J. Roerich, age 25, of Newton entered a guilty plea to an indictment charging him with one count of a third degree charge for a violation of Megan’s Law for failure to register as a convicted sex offender. Under the provisions of Megan’s Law, Roerich was required to notify the local police that he had moved to a new address. Roerich admitted to the court that between July 30, 2007 and September 20, 2007 he had failed to register his new address with the Newton Police Department. Rachael Swaynos, age 18, of Hopatcong pled guilty to forgery, a third degree crime and possession of heroin, a third degree crime. She admitted that between September 9 and 12, 2008 she had stolen numerous checks from an adult relative. She also admitted that she was in possession of heroin. Kelly M. Willard, age 29, of Hopatcong pled guilty to two counts of 3rd degree Fraud, two counts of 3rd degree Forgery and 3rd degree Issuing a Bad Check. Sentencing is presently anticipated for February 20, 2009. She admitted to issuing a check to the Franklin Sussex Auto Mall for car repairs, knowing that she had insufficient funds to cover the payment. In a separate incident, while employed as an independent carrier for the New Jersey Herald, she used the New Jersey Herald’s checking account to pay several of her personal bills. Shannon M. Ernst, age 27, of Montague was sentenced to five years drug court probation, 34 days jail, inpatient substance abuse treatment, $2,380 in fines and a one-year loss of driver’s license. She pled guilty on October 14, 2008 to two counts of third degree possession of a controlled dangerous substance and motor vehicle tickets for an unsafe and uninsured vehicle. She admitted that the vehicle she was driving in Sparta on June 13, 2008 had front end damage and no insurance and that she possessed 36 bags of heroin and several suboxone pills. Scott D. Verhage, age 18, of Highland Lakes pled guilty to two counts of third degree possession of a controlled dangerous substance. Sentencing is presently anticipated for February 6. He admitted to possessing a large number of Xanax in Vernon Township on May 29, 2008. That matter was investigated by Vernon Police Officer William Fischer. He also admitted to possessing heroin on October 10, 2008 in Vernon. Dec. 17 Nils A. Peterson, age 27, of Wharton pled guilty to theft, a third degree crime. Sentencing is presently anticipated for February 6, 2009. Peterson admitted to police that on December 24, 2005, he stole construction equipment from a work yard in Stanhope. Michael J. Landano, age 23, of Jefferson and Steven R. Campagna. age 19, of Hopatcong pled guilty to credit card theft, a third degree crime. Sentencing is presently anticipated for February 20, 2009. On diverse dates between March 31, 2008 and May 5, 2008, both defendants double swiped credit cards belonging to customers at a gas station in Hopatcong where they were employed. Both defendants admitted their actions to police. Cory R. Baum, age 21, of Hamburg pled guilty to one count of endangering the welfare of a minor, a third degree crime and one count of sexual contact, a fourth degree crime. On or between Jan. 20, 2008 and March 25, 2008 the defendant had sexual contact with the intimate parts of a minor female. Felicia A. De La Rosa, age 28, of Vernon pled guilty to one count of theft and three counts of issuing bad checks. Sentencing is presently anticipated for Feb. 20. She admitted to issuing checks to Franklin Shop Rite, Newton Shoprite, North Jersey Gold and Silver in Franklin and Buccieri’s Jewelry and Repair in McAfee. knowing that she did not have sufficient monies in her account to cover the payments. Dec. 18 Michael Frey, age 30 of Slate Hill, NY pled guilty to violating his probation and was sentenced to 270 days jail (credit for 116 days). He pled guilty to violating his probation by receiving a DWI in New York State. Matthew Morley, age 27 of Vernon pled guilty to violating his probation and was sentenced to three years state prison with 224 days credit, restitution in the amount of $600 and fines and costs in the amount of $435. He pled guilty on Dec. 1, 2008 to violating his probation by receiving a new charge of receiving stolen property. Kevin Puza, age 22 of Hamburg pled guilty to violating his probation and was sentenced to five years probation with 180 days in jail. Continue with outpatient mental health counseling and intensive outpatient for drug addiction. Dawn Rodano, age 38 of Vernon pled guilty to violating her probation and was sentenced to five years probation, 60 days in jail (49 days credit) and restitution. She pled guilty to violating her probation by failing to report, failure to submit to drug/alcohol testing, failure to pay fines, failure to follow recommendation of drug/alcohol evaluation and a new offense of possession of prescription legend drugs.
