Uniform Construction Code Courses available

Newton — Sussex County Community College will offer the following courses needed to obtain a certification and licensing in construction: Building Inspector Starts Tuesday, Jan. 27. This 90-hour course provides students with the knowledge required by the state for licensing. Topics include structural design and analysis techniques, wood framing construction and foundations. Cost: $285. Subcode Official Starts Monday, Feb. 2. This 45-hour course meets the education requirement for licensing as a subcode official. Topics include administrative procedures, legal aspects of code enforcement and legislation. Cost: $575. Tuition reimbursement may be available. Required text is the “Uniform Construction Code Act & Regulations” (Blue Book) that is obtained directly from the DCA at 609-984-0040.
