ZDC shines bright at competition

Ziegler Dance Centre’s Z Dance Troupe recently attended On Stage America Nationals in Norfolk, VA. They ended their 2019 season shining bright. The troupe brought back many high awards and were recognized for their talents in all divisions.

A few highlights from the week include studio excellence in tap as well as teacher Renée Ziegler Schmidt was awarded the excellence award for continuous creativity and overall excellence.

Petite Intermediate Division

Ballet Small Group “Petite Ballerinas” won High Platinum, 1st overall and a Judge’s Special “Music Box Dancers” Tap Small Group. “If I Didn’t Have You” won High Platinum and 1st Runner up Hip Hop Large Group. “Fired Up” won a Platinum and 1st overall.

Junior Advance Division

Kyleigh Doyle won Diamond and second runner up for her lyrical solo “There’s a Place for Us” as well as Dancer of Merit for always putting her all in every dance. Sadie Smaldino won High Platinum and 1st Overall for her vocal “Journey to the Past”. Abigail Pisciottano won fourth runner up and high platinum for her tap “Tea for Two”. Ava Berner won High Platinum and a Special Judge’s Award “Owned It” for her jazz “Bad Dream” Ballet Duet “Hallejuah” performed by Abigail Pisciottano and Molly Sokolewicz won High Platinum and third Runner up Jazz Trio “Work Me Down” performed by Ava Berner, Makayla Snyder and Sophia VanLeuven won High Platinum and first runner up. Small group Ballet “Arabian Nights” won High Platinum and Best costume for the 12 and under division. Large Group hip hop “Freedom Roll” won High Platinum and second runner-up Large Group hip hop “What’s My Name” won High Platinum and third runner-up line lyrical Group “Found Tonight” won High Platinum, third runner up and Judge’s Special Award “Beautiful Choreography”. They were also chosen to dance in the “Challenge of Champions” where they won 2nd Runner up.

Teen Advance Division

Reese Decker won Diamond and Teen Mr. On Stage America for his Lyrical “Too Good At Goodbyes” Rianna Ziegler won Diamond and seventh runner Up for her lyrical “You are the Reason” Sydney Bosma won High Platinum and second runner-up Teen Miss On Stage America for her lyrical “Helium” Ms. Bosma also holds the regional title in East Brunswick N.J. for Teen Miss On Stage America. Makayla Snyder won High Platinum and fourth runner up Teen Miss On Stage America for her jazz “A Little Party” Natalia Arroyo won High Platinum and sixth runner-up for her jazz “Show You How” Libby Rieger won High Platinum and Judge’s Special Award “Funky and Fly” for her hip hop “Gibberish”.

Lyrical Duet “Runnin” performed by Kaya Gorski & Rianna Ziegler won High Platinum and third runner-up Lyrical Duet. “Train Wreck” performed by Natalia Arroyo and Sydney Bosma won High Platinum and fourth runner up. Large Group Tap “Bohemian Rhapsody” won High Platinum, Judge’s Special “Style & Choreography” and fourth runner up Production Musical Theatre “Hercules” won Diamond, second runner up and were chosen to compete in the “Challenge of Champions”.

Senior Advance Division

Chassidy Pappas won High Platinum and Judge’s Special “TapTastic” for her tap “Looking Through A Window” Small Group musical theatre “Move” won High Platinum and first Overall Small Group lyrical “Old Friends” won High Platinum and 1st Runner Up Small Group jazz “Can’t Touch This” won High Platinum and second Runner-Up.
